Thailand needs to bolster ties with key members of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), including Malaysia, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, to keep it from intervening in the southern insurgency, army chief Sonthi Boonyaratkalin said yesterday. Gen Sonthi said Bangkok has to promote better understanding with the three countries and especially clear the air with Saudi Arabia, whose relations with Thailand turned sour following the royal gems theft case in 1989 and the murders of four Saudi diplomats the same year.

The Song Kran Festival

The Thai New Year ( Songkran) is celebrated every year on 13 to 15 April. This period is in the hottest time of the year in Thailand, at the end of the dry season ( about 37-40 degree and some areas more than 40 degree).

The most obvious celebration of Songkran is the throwing of water. People roam the streets with bowls of water, water guns or even a garden hose, and drench each other and passersby. This festival teaches people to come home to visit their parents, pay respect to them, and usually bring them a small gift or some money. Mothers and Fathers have given so much to their children, and this is the time that children show them that they recognize their parents' kindness. People also visit their older relatives and neighbors to keep up the good relationships and to pay respect to them.

For these reasons Songkran days are also considered the elderly days and family days on April 14 and 15 , respectively.

Many foreigners want to go to Thailand in this time because they want to enjoy throwing water and have a unique experience with Thai people.

I have studied GEAP3 for 2 weeks , so far. I 'm happy & enjoy with my teacher and classmates. I have a lot of nice friends. We had lunch and many activities together such as go shopping , go to liabrary , drink coffee. We usaully chare own cultures for the others. These give me lot of friendship and experiences.

For next 2 weeks , I believe my english will approve by Helen's many good activities. Besides that I will practise english with my friends , host mother sometime by self. I intend to watch movies and listen radio more.

Eventhough, the end of GEAP3 is coming soon but our friendship still go on. Right ? :)
